Kerala decides to make office Women Friendly.

Women love to be independent. To earn for themselves and her family, many women have started doing 9 to 5 jobs. Every month, women have to face a menstruation cycle that lasts for 5-7 days. It becomes challenging for women to concentrate on their job during period days and complete their tasks on time. It happens due to mood swings, period cramps, headaches, bloating, and many such problems that hold them back to meet her day’s task. Another reason for lack of concentration can be the lack of period friendly workplace. 

What is Period Friendly Workplace?

Period Friendly Workplace is a step where the company frames policies; to create an environment where women feel comfortable during periods while making a profit. Benefits of creating a period-friendly workplace are; it reduces attrition rate of women, women work more efficiently towards the company, they feel comfortable during periods, increases the profit of the company. There are different ways to make your office a period-friendly workplace. One of the easiest ways is through installing Sanitary napkin vending machines and Incinerators in your office. 

Kerala installs Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine and Incinerators to make office Women Friendly:

In Kerala, the LDF government has issued directions to install Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines and Incinerators in government offices to create office Women Friendly during periods. 

Health Minister Ms. KK Shailaja said the decision to install a Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine and Incinerators was taken; considering women’s problems during their menstruation cycle at the workplace. At first, all the major offices and other government offices where many women employees work in the company will install the Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine. Funds will be allocate from the gender budget of the department.

It is an extraordinary step taken by the Government of Kerala for office-going women to make offices women-friendly. Government should frame more such policies to end the period of poverty and create easy access to sanitary napkins for women during periods. After installing a Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine and Incinerators, women won’t be worried even if she forgets to bring her sanitary napkin to the office during periods. Additionally, the installation of an Incinerator will ensure proper and safe disposal of used sanitary napkins.
