Ms. Priya Anand Nikam stated in the interview that many villages lack sufficient availability of sanitary napkins, inspiring the creation of Stree Sanman Pvt. Ltd. Sanitary napkins are crucial for menstrual hygiene, protecting women’s health and preventing menstrual complications.
She also shared some figures that stated that only 80% of women are aware of sanitary pads and their usage, but the availability of sanitary pads is only 30%. Due to the unavailability of sanitary pads, 80% of women resort to using improvised alternatives like cloth, sandbags, leaves, and ashes. In 2018, supported by her mother-in-law, Ms. Durga Nikam launched Stree Sanman Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine and Smokeless Incinerators. Another Stree Sanman product is ‘MyKit-Suvidha,’ a comprehensive pack containing 14 sanitary pads, disposal bags, wet tissue, dry tissue, and a 15ml hand sanitizer.

In Africa, with the association with Rolink Investment Pty. Ltd, installed Stree Sanman machines. In 2021, World Health Humanitarian Foundation appreciated the initiative taken by Stree Sanman Pvt. Ltd and Rolink Investment Pty. Ltd to end period poverty and stigma.

Women often throw the used sanitary pads on a regular dustbin or flush the soiled sanitary pad. In public toilets, women often leave sanitary pads in open spaces, rendering the washroom unsuitable for subsequent use. Stree Sanman Incinerators ensure eco-friendly disposal of sanitary pads, eliminating harmful emissions and preventing such situation. It will convert the soiled sanitary pads into sterile ash.
